Since 2011, Salesforce.com has been a solution for State of Colorado agencies offered by the Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT). The decision to use Salesforce.com as one of OIT’s Platform as a Service (PaaS) providers, is directly from OIT’s guiding Enterprise Architectural Principles, as outlined in the Chief Technology Office’s (CTO) roadmap.
OIT made the conscientious decision to adopt Salesforce because it supported not only OIT architectural requirements, but state-wide strategic initiatives such as “cloud first” and “secure Colorado,” as well as the fact that there was already existing and accelerating investment in the platform by Colorado state agencies and departments.
Salesforce.com has been a driver for cloud computing for fourteen years, and a trusted partner for federal, state and local government agencies for more than ten years due to its commitment to security and privacy. Salesforce has approval from the Federal Risk and Management Authorization Program (FedRAMP) for its Salesforce Government Cloud. There is no hardware or software to buy, manage or maintain, and as a platform it provides instant scalability, rapid deployment, built-in mobile and analytic capabilities, and an agile technology platform capable of keeping up with rapidly changing citizen expectations. Such technology has enabled the State of Colorado to remain a leader in IT services, and support Governor John Hickenlooper's vision of “promoting collaboration, innovation and efficiency to serve the greatest good for the people and state of Colorado.”
