This quarter I’m pleased to bring you news of an improved video conferencing app from Google, a new feature within the Customer Service Portal and the opportunity to learn more about how Salesforce and OIT can help you increase efficiency in your agencies.

Getting More From Google
An Upgrade for Google Hangouts: Google Meet!

Google is taking Hangouts up a notch with a new video conferencing function called Google Meet. It’s an improvement over the original Hangouts app that will be available to state Google customers in the next few months. Google Meet will still provide the convenience of launching a video conference from the link within the calendar invite but with Meet you can now have up to 30 participants. Guests will no longer need to have a Google account to access the video conference but they will need to use the Chrome browser to join. For those without reliable internet, a conference dial-in option will be available directly within the calendar invite at no additional cost. We’ll let you know when this new app will be available at the state. You can learn more about it now at Google’s help center.  

Another change coming soon from Google is on the sign-in page. Google is updating it with a new look that will be consistent across computers, phones and tablets. Your sign-in credentials will be the same. Only the look of the sign in screen is changing.

OIT's Service Desk Serves You!
New After-Hours Support for Emergencies

The first stop for help with any IT issue is OIT’s Service Desk. You can submit a ticket with your request for help any day of the week at any time online using the Customer Service Portal. But, if the IT issue you’re experiencing isn’t limited to just your computer, we want to know about it right away. That’s why we also have a phone number you can call as well: 303.239.HELP (4357). If your IT issue is impacting everyone on your team, your floor or your building, give us a call. Beginning on May 22, we will have analysts available to take calls anytime day or night for those emergency IT issues. The Service Desk can escalate the problem to the proper OIT team and we can get things back up and running. It’s all part of our commitment to making sure that your IT resources are available when you need them.

My Services Streamlines IT Service
Available to You in the Customer Service Portal

Did you know that help with a broken or jammed printer is one of the most common requests the OIT Service Desk receives? Did you also know that you can also easily request help for this problem using the My Services section of OIT’s Customer Service Portal?

The My Services tab is a streamlined way of requesting some of the most common IT issues experienced by our customers. The services you see are specific to your agency. Select the service you need and when you submit the form, a ticket will be created and sent directly to the OIT team who can help.

Salesforce Technology Day
Second Annual Event on June 29

Salesforce. It’s one of those technology tools you’ve probably heard about but may have no idea how it can help your agency fulfill its mission. It’s a platform that OIT supports and is using to help modernize applications for the agencies we serve. From case management and benefits eligibility at CDLE, to grants management at OEDIT, Salesforce is now deployed across 50 divisions, offices and programs within the state’s executive branch. The suite of Salesforce technologies provides customers and partners a foundation for building connected applications to close gaps and drive efficiency. We’d like to invite you to OIT’s second annual Salesforce Colorado Technology Day, June 29, at the Ralph E. Carr Colorado Judicial Center.
